In this module you will be introduced to some ideas and topics from the social sciences. You learn how to use social science theories and methods to analyse contemporary social issues. Examples of the topics that the module covers include social inequalities and mobility, aging and the rise in life expectancy, pandemics, changes in social norms, religion and secularisation, social groups and networks, immigration and ethnic minorities, social movements. This module will develop your understanding of the substantive areas and problems where social data science skills can be applied.
