This module introduces you to methods of research inquiry that are strongly featured within the traditions of sociology and anthropology. The module focuses on learning through practical experimentation with different techniques which you will undertake. While you will generally work on your own or in small groups, the module will focus on specific topics; this will allow you to compare your observations and perspectives with one another and to experience participating in a larger programme of inquiry.
You will learn the research skills needed for your dissertation and have the opportunity to reflect upon and plan your dissertation project. The assessed research proposal can, but does not have to, be used as a dissertation plan in SOC3040 or ANT3040.
