This module addresses some of the central questions that emerge in the philosophical literature on emotion, with special attention to the nature of emotions as mental states, and their relation to bodily states. We will look at different characterizations of the nature of emotion, at the relation between emotion and other psychological faculties (such as reason, cognition, perception), and at the relation between emotion and the body. We will also discuss the nature of emotional feelings, and the relation between emotion, experience, and expression.
